Local songbird Lewis Loh launched his 13-track EP Lullacry at The Esplanade’s Annexe Studio early last month, claiming his last full set before leaving to pursue music at Berklee College of Music this weekend. Lullacry – a mash up of the words lullaby and cry encapsulated tunes of love, longing and was the result of many […]

Dubbed “the singing cop” and even “Asian Ed Sheeran”, singer-songwriter Lewis Loh, otherwise known as LEW went viral when the SPF uploaded a video of him singing a National Day theme song on their Facebook page. The video became so popular that even the Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong himself took to his own Facebook page to share it, commenting that it was a “beautiful rendition”.

In need of a break? Don’t fret! The groovy tracks (an adventurous and exceptional harmony of Bossa Nova and shoegaze) from band, Specific Islander, will definitely take you on a vacation, even if it is just for a while.

Despite citing “disappointment” as their main influence, emo/math rock band Forests does anything but disappoint. While the three-piece band, consisting of members Darell (bassist and vocalist), Adam (guitarist and vocalist) and Niki (drummer), might seem carefree and jovial through their fun and quirky social media posts, a different side of them is reflected in their music. The quartet released their first EP, “worst beach vacation ever, circa 1997”, in July 2015. The debut EP came with three songs, “who cares really”, “cirrus clouds” and “dakota”.

Canvas Conversations is bound to start conversations with their creative and colourful music style. Much like a skilled artist painting across a canvas in many colours, the band explores and experiments with all types of sounds and textures under the electronic genre. The quartet consists of Bings, Jeff, Namie and Vick.

Previously the front man of ‘JJ and The Paperplanes’, JJ Ong, decided that it was not the end of his music career after the band disbanded in 2015. He rose back as a solo artiste, now calling himself Falling Feathers.

Self-proclaimed ‘music mercenary’, Evan Low, better known by his moniker, Evanturetime, proves this title is well-earned with his vast experience in Singapore’s music industry despite his young age. Having graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, he received the opportunity to compose for renounced international brands such as Adidas, Toyota and Lego.

The words ‘dream’ and ‘angst’ aren’t often paired up, but one would be surprised to see (or hear, rather) how perfectly they go together after listening to the whimsical music of Subsonic Eye, accompanied by cryptic lyrics laced with distress.

Despite making their debut early on this year, mysterious dark noir pop duo TOMGIRL had their self-titled debut album claim the title of Best Album in Apple’s ‘Best of 2016 In Singapore’ list. When it was first released, it even ranked #1 on the iTunes charts. In addition, their lead single ‘Darker Now’ also premiered on Beats 1 Radio and MTV Asia.

Pop-rock band The Summer State has been rubbing shoulders with famous international acts since their infectious ballad, ‘I Do I Don’t’, shot up the charts in 2013. As of today, its music video has over 100,000 views on YouTube. Their recent single, ‘Enough’, is also doing well, with over 10,000 views on YouTube. The quintet consists of vocalist, Bryan, guitarists, Victoria and Shaykh, bassist, Edwin, and drummer, Ritz.
