LEW Turned Down Offer from NBC’s The Voice

Dubbed “the singing cop” and even “Asian Ed Sheeran”, singer-songwriter Lewis Loh, otherwise known as LEW went viral when the SPF uploaded a video of him singing a National Day theme song on their Facebook page. The video became so popular that even the Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong himself took to his own Facebook page to share it, commenting that it was a “beautiful rendition”.

PM Lee is not the only one who has noticed how talented the Hong Kong born and raised musician is, with producers from reality Singing competitions NBC’s The Voice and Sing! China even scouting LEW to join their competitions after seeing him on YouTube.

However, the young lad turned down both invitations because of National Service and he also wanted to focus on his own original songs.

Citing his musical inspirations as Ed Sheeran, Birdy and Passenger, LEW croons songs about heartbreak and other relatable experiences in his soothing voice. His covers as well as original indie-folk songs can be found on his YouTube channel, where he has also uploaded the official music video for his latest single, Loved You So, recently.

As our Artiste of the Week, we asked LEW some random questions so we can get to know them better.

The most amazing meal I’ve ever eaten was at a durian party where I feasted my eyes, nose and mouth on four durians.

Invite all my friends to jam and sing along to songs that we love around a campfire under a starry night.

  1. What sports do you watch/play/follow?

I don’t follow many real life sports but if eSports counts then I will definitely watch the League of Legends Worlds Championship every year.

Biggest adrenaline rush was at Sentosa with my friends, where I had to climb the Team Challenge Hourglass and then free fall off the top of structure. (It was a three-hour adrenaline rush)

My favourite fairy tale is Sleeping Beauty – because sleep, get woken up with a kiss and then sleep.
