A movie STRONGER than most

If you’re looking for an emotional rollercoaster, you’ll definitely find it in whatever cinema hall screening Stronger.Chronicling the life of Jeff Bauman, a survivor of the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing and the difficulties he faces whilst trying to fulfil his promise of walking again, this movie is a love story at its core, and pulls tears from your eyes, whether from laughing or crying.I didn’t watch a single trailer for this film so I had no idea what to expect. In hindsight, I’m truly really extremely super glad I didn’t! The movie has some moments that will strike you as nothing short of emotional and spectacular, and you shouldn’t let a trailer give even a small chance of spoiling it for you.One of the many strengths of this movie is that it doesn't shy away from the trauma and graphic imagery, painting a realistic picture of what happened and conjuring emotions you didn’t even know a movie could. Through that alone, it already makes for a stunning film. However, it goes one step further with a script that can make even the hardest of hearts crack. Seal it all up with acting so good you forget it’s not all unfolding as you watch, and a truly remarkable feature.Honestly, the acting deserves praise all on its own. Jake Gyllenhaall's lovable and charming portrayal of the man really makes you go through every struggle with him. He’s funny in all the right moments yet tear-jerkingly relatable and heart-rending in the rest. Supported by a lovely cast, it just puts the cherry on the sundae and propels the movie to even greater heights. All in all, Stronger is adorably funny, beautiful, and above all, inspiring. I'm not a particularly strong-willed person but even I found myself tearing up at the end of the movie. Incredibly uplifting and giving us, the audience, the closure we all deserve, you end up leaving the cinema with a sense of “well that was nice”And it is indeed. Written by: Aidan RazaliEdited by: Jac
