PVRIS in Singapore
If you’re an avid concertgoer, you’d probably agree that the last place you’d expect would host a rock concert is a two-levelled restaurant on the outskirts of Orchard Road. To our pleasant surprise, the overall experience trumped all preconceived expectations.Electrifying, mesmerising and utterly breathtaking - sums up the concert PVRIS held at the Hard rock cafe on Cuscaden Road last Tuesday, 26th of June. Hailing all the way from Lowell, Massachusetts, the electronic pop-rock outfit performed in Singapore for the first time ever as part of their effort to promote their sophomore album, “All We Know of Heaven, All We Need of Hell.”
The floor was filled up almost immediately after entry to the venue was granted to ticketholders, by screaming fans united by one goal - bringing the house down.
But just before PVRIS came on stage, a lucky draw was held for concertgoers, courtesy of LAMC Productions. With great fortune, Gracia walked away with two tickets to Paramore Live in Singapore. The crowd started singing along right from the start, as PVRIS kicked off the concert with fan favourite, “Mirrors” off their first album “White Noise”. Throughout the next hour, they continued to delight fans with spectacular performances of songs like “You and I”, “My House” and “Heaven”. The band members were visibly revelling in the moment as well, with Brian swaying to the music as he strummed his bass guitar and Alex bobbing his head while on the keyboard. There were even a couple of times the lead vocalist, Lynn, picked up a pair of drum sticks to join in on the drums.
The limitations of the Hard Rock Café’s space proved to be a blessing in disguise as the concert proved to be an extremely intimate experience with plenty of fan interaction. As a matter of fact, there were several instances where Lynn got off the stage to embrace her fans, who were barely an arm’s length away from the stage.
The concert ended on a high note, as Lynn bade farewell with a "We’ll see you again", much to the delight of the audience who erupted into cheers of ecstasy. Leaving the concert venue with strained vocal chords, sore feet and even beads of perspiration, there’s no doubt that the fans, and the two of us, had the time of our lives. It was a great performance from PVRIS and we can’t wait to see them back in Singapore again!
