The Marvel Universe and Augmented Reality
Written by Radio Heatwave on June 20, 2018
Marvel spared no expense when it came to holding an exhibit to showcase its 10th year. Held at the iconic ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands, it’s no wonder that there was something to marvel at, pun fully intended.
From 9 June, Marvel Studios: Ten Years of Heroes exhibition will be transporting visitors into the dynamic Marvel Cinematic Universe as they re-live a decade of epic moments through the various galleries.
The exhibition builds on the foundations of past Marvel exhibitions but also adds brand-new technology and interactive elements to present a never-before-seen experience to Singapore. The showcase encapsulates entering the iconic Stark Tower and heading into Tony Stark’s workshop where visitors can witness the evolution of Iron Man’s armours via projection mapping. Apart from that, they can also experience activating the mad titan and Thanos’ infinity gauntlet – a once in a lifetime opportunity no one can resist!
However, fun was not the only focus there. The exhibition showcases not only the artistic influences behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also the science fiction behind it, and how it could one day very well become a science fact!
One of the crowd favourites was the tenth gallery, where visitors can ‘step’ on the icon of their favourite Super Hero with the use of Augmented Reality (AR) technology and watch specially created animation appear on the screen. Additionally, while the visitors are leaving the gallery, they can pose with their favourite Super Hero in the Marvel Studios’ 10th anniversary class photograph.
On top of the unique exhibits, installations and interactive content, Beast Kingdom also provides the largest selection of top quality Marvel merchandise, including action figures, collectibles, clothing and accessories for all Marvel heroes.
It’s amazing that of all the places in Southeast Asia, Singapore was chosen to host this exhibition which is truly a testament to Singapore’s position as a global arts and science hub. Whether you are a comic fan or not, the marvel exhibit is definitely one not to miss due to its aesthetically pleasing displays and its informative descriptions. Marvel Studios: Ten Years exhibition will open from 9 June to 30 September 2018.
Thank you to Marina Bay Sands for providing us with the passes to check out the exhibition!
