Dunkirk tells the story of the largest military evacuation in history as Allied forces are surrounded by the Germans in the coastal town of Dunkirk, France. Promising stunning visuals and a compelling story, Dunkirk cemented its place as one of the most anticipated movies of 2017. And it did not fail to deliver its promise.

The movie is shown from the perspectives of 3 main characters each based on land, air, or sea. One of the more unique directorial choices in the movie is that a couple of moments are replayed from each perspective, making an interesting non-linear storyline.

Despite the plethora of epic moments, the movie never forgets its goal of being a thriller. The tension at times becomes almost unbearable and the soundtrack of pounding drums and wailing strings keeps your eyes glued to the screen.

With a director as prolific as Christopher Nolan at the helm, it's no surprise that Dunkirk is a triumph from start to finish. Huge action set pieces, cinematic practical effects, and amazing acting from Tom Hardy, Fionn Whitehead and even Harry Styles in his acting debut all add to this film's status as an epic war thriller not to be missed.
