Forests Can't Go 2 Hours Without Sleep?!

Despite citing “disappointment” as their main influence, emo/math rock band Forests does anything but disappoint. While the three-piece band, consisting of members Darell (bassist and vocalist), Adam (guitarist and vocalist) and Niki (drummer), might seem carefree and jovial through their fun and quirky social media posts, a different side of them is reflected in their music. The quartet released their first EP, "worst beach vacation ever, circa 1997", in July 2015. The debut EP came with three songs, "who cares really", "cirrus clouds" and "dakota".

Their second EP, "Eat Moon Grave Party", which was released last March, came with eight new tracks. "Eat Moon Grave Party" accurately portrays adolescent angst, anxiety and heartbreak - nostalgic and relatable to many. Since then, the band has not only played multiple gigs in Singapore, but also conducted a tour in Japan. In an interview with popspoken.com, the members expressed their interest in playing at Baybeats someday. Hopefully we’ll catch them in this year’s lineup!

As our Artiste of the Week, we asked Forests some random questions so we can get to know them better.

  1. What is the best compliment you've ever received?

They haven't heard anything as distasteful as us.

  1. If you could only have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That magical sashimi rice bowl on the street of Kami-Shakuji, Tokyo.

  1. What is the longest you've gone without sleep?

2 hours

  1. What is your favourite thing to spend money on?

Beer, food and things we don't need. Like Darell, we bought him from Sungei Road.
